The 3rd round of forBET 1.LIGI did not bring any surprises. The leader and vice-leader - ZTT BAZALT Złotoryja and KT GAT GDAŃSK, won their matches in unison. The team from the coast had a much more difficult journey.
Derby for BASALT
In the Lower Silesian derby, the ZTT BAZALT Złotoryja team showed no mercy to the local rival COME-ON Wrocław, winning without losing a point 6:0. However, the result does not reflect the course of the match. In the first two single matches, the tennis players from Wrocław stood up to their rivals. ZTT competitor Zuzanna Kubacha settled the duel in her favor only in the super tie-break, winning a real war of nerves with Karolina Skowrońska. They won four balls in a row from 6-8, winning the match 6-0, 6-7 (5), 10-8. The first set of the duel between the hosts' competitor, Ewa Czapulak, and Hubert Hurkacz's sister, Nina, was equally fierce, ending with the victory of the former 7:6 (7), 6:2. The singles from Złotoryja had a much easier journey - Marcel Zieliński and Sebastian Brzeziński finished their matches without losing a set, sealing the victory of the whole team. Doubles games had a more showy character, and some of their participants treated them as training, trying spectacular and non-standard moves. After a non-one-sided duel, ZTT BAZALT Złotoryja won with COME-ON Wrocław 6:0, strengthening itself on the leader's seat.
A valuable away win
As expected, the second meeting provided more emotions. The guests (KT GAT Gdańsk) in the clash with KT ROYAL Zielona Góra could not use the injured Weronika Ewald, who withdrew from the junior French Open. Both pairs of singles matches (men's and women's) ended with a split of points. Doubles was going to be the deciding factor. In women's doubles, the guest pair Oriana Gniewkowska / Martyna Szpakowska won with the duo Zofia Dziewięcka / Julia Oczachowska 6:4, 6:2, putting their team in the lead. The doubles match was a fight for survival for the hosts. Radosław Nijaki, the former captain of the Polish national team, in the tie-break of the first set, Radosław Nijaki, together with Filip Bojko, did not use two setpoints, losing the game 6:7 (9). They gave the second set 3:6 to the rivals, ending the meeting. KT GAT Gdańsk defeated KT ROYAL Zielona Góra 4:2 on the trip, increasing their chances of promotion to the LOTTO SuperLIGA.
TIM Gwardia Wrocław was suspended in the third round.
